What is a doula?

A doula is a person who is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother, her partner and their family before, during and after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying birth experience possible. They also believe in a woman’s ability to birth her baby, no matter what direction her birth takes.

Having a Doula - The benefits and purpose

There is incredible evidence that shows how birth doulas improve outcomes. 

A doula can help you; 

        1. shorten your labor by 25 %

        2. labor and birth can be less painful 

        3. your baby (or babies ) can achieve better apgar scores, and

        4. your chance of having a caesarean section decreases by 1/3!   ​
Can a doula do all that?  Yes they can!

Why do I need a doula?

Doulas have a positive impact on the well-being of the entire family as they provide emotional support; use comfort measures: breathing, relaxation, movement, re-positioning during labor and birth; gives information and continuously reassures and comforts the mother, partner and the family.
